In recent years the so-called "Bosstown Sound" scene has been reassessed and from a remove of 40 plus years it becomes clear that some of the music, while definitely of its place and time, is much better than it has ever been given credit for. Released simultaneously with the debut efforts from Ultimate Spinach and Orpheus, The Eyes Of The Beacon Street Union easily outshines the other two. Strong songwriting, hard edged guitar/organ interplay and a fair amount of punky energy all combine to make this an album that should appeal to anyone looking to dig a bit deeper into (relatively) obscure '60s sounds.
