IQ - Ever (1994)

After a period of time in the wilderness due to a record label and change from Peter Nicholls, IQ returns with a line up including Peter, income vocals, and John Jowitt happens on bass. Ever is surely the beginning of his IQ and the current style. The overwhelming influence of Genesis Tales from the Lush Attic and still marked in The Wake, fades completely to make room for the creativity of the group including Martin Orford. We finally found the voice and phrasing without which IQ was not really himself. This song which is part of the music as well as many musical lines keyboards or guitar seem to extend the theatrical effect of singing.

Après une période de traversée du désert due à un changement de maison de disque et au départ de Peter Nicholls, IQ revient avec un line up comportant Peter, revenu au chant, et John Jowitt qui arrive à la basse.  Ever est sûrement le début du son et du style IQ actuel. L'influence de Genesis écrasante dans Tales from the Lush Attic et encore marquée dans The Wake, s'estompe complètement pour laisser place à la créativité du groupe et notamment de Martin Orford. On retrouve enfin cette voix et ce phrasé sans lesquels IQ n'était plus vraiment lui-même. Ce chant qui fait partie intégrante de la musique au même titre que de nombreuses lignes musicales des claviers ou de la guitare semblent prolonger l'effet théâtral du chant.
