The Youngbloods - Elephant Mountain (1969)

The Youngbloods was Jesse Colin on bass, Jerry Corbitt on rhythm guitar, Joe Bauer and Banana on drums to the piano and lead guitar. They gravitated a few times along the fucking East Coast before going to settle in New York.Lors recording their third album "Elephant Mountain" Jerry left the band. This album marks the transition between New York and the Bay; music becomes more ethereal leaving room for longer improvisations. It was also at this time that in the tradition of the Dead Youngbloods began to give cheap concerts that could last up to very advanced in the morning hours. From that moment they became a California phenomenon. They settled north of San Francisco Point Reyes aside and they systematically refused to give concerts elsewhere in the northern part of California.

Ils gravitèrent quelques temps le long de cette foutue East Coast avant d'aller se fixer à New York.Lors de l'enregistrement de leur troisième album « Elephant Mountain » Jerry quitta le groupe. Cet album marque la transition entre New York et la baie ; la musique devient plus éthérée laissant place à des improvisations plus longues. C'est aussi à cette époque que dans la lignée du Dead les Youngbloods se mirent à donner des concerts bon marché qui pouvaient durer jusqu'à des heures très avancées du matin. A partir de ce moment ils devinrent un phénomène californien. Ils s'installèrent au nord de San Francisco du côté de Point Reyes et ils refusèrent systématiquement de donner des concerts ailleurs que dans la partie nord de la Californie.
